American Scholastic Climbing League

Above: A large youth competition at Synergy Climbing And Ninja. Competitive youth climbing is a growing sport with bouldering being the most popular competition format! It is easy to join in and the competitions can be anything from formal USA Climbing events to recreational and less formal American Scholastic Climbing League events.

Finally—a State-Wide and Nationwide Scholastic League!

The American Scholastic Climbing League (ASCL) is a nationwide program that brings positive, student-focused competition to Tennessee and across the country, and supports the best aspects of middle and high school competition climbing.

This recreational competitive league allows middle and high school climbers to compete and represent either their school or themselves, at the local, regional and even national level competitions. Climbers must attend three season competitions to qualify for Regionals.

Across Tennessee, competitions are hosted at:

• The Crag (Franklin and Nashville)
• Climb Craft (Nashville)
• Climb Nashville West (Nashville)
• Climb Murfreesboro (Murfreesboro)
• Synergy Climbing & Ninja (Chattanooga)
• The Climbing Center (Knoxville)
• Onsight Rock Gym (Knoxville)

An ASCL membership is required for all participants wishing to advance or gain ranking, and must be purchased through the ASCL website before competing.

Registration Questions

Participants will be asked:
• What grade and gender is the climber?
• Are they competing as an individual or as part of a school-affiliated team?
• What school do they attend?
• Have they completed registration through the ASCL website (link above)?
