CAMP OF CHAMPIONS!

Two-Day Camp With Lisa Rands and Hugo Hoyer!

January 2027. Dates to come.

Join us at the weekend, Saturday and Sunday January 2nd and 3rd 2027, for an immersive and fun training experience designed for competitive climbers preparing for bouldering Championships. Train under the guidance of some of the most accomplished coaches in the country. Improve skills and performance!

• Wills Young: Bouldering first-ascensionist and longtime rock climbing enthusiast, Wills began coaching 28 years ago, helping Lisa Rands (see below) to victories in over 20 bouldering competitions in the USA and overseas.

• Lisa Rands: Synergy’s C.E.O. and coach was the first American to win a bouldering World Cup and is a former National Champion. Lisa has been a pioneering force in women’s bouldering, both in competition and outdoors. Her fearless ascents on rock inspired a generation.

• Hugo Hoyer: Guest setter/coach. As a youth athlete under guidance from Synergy’s coaches (above) Hugo won the 2024 National Team Trials Bouldering Championship and the Elite Lead National Championship. As a team member he became a 4-time Youth National Champion and 2022 Youth Bouldering World Champion. He won the 2026 National Team Trials once again to earn a place on the National Climbing Team!

• Davis Stewart: Synergy head setter and coach, Davis has an incredible ability to create interesting movement and continually challenge our youth climbing team. His experience and skill enable him to help any climber understand the details of movement and technique.

What to Expect:
Participants will receive expert insights and advice on approaching championship events, preparing effectively, and performing at their best. This camp will focus on dynamic and coordination movement on both slab and overhang!

We will be creating step-throughs, step-up moves, paddle dynos, and tricky slab dynamics on volumes and we’ll be working with all levels and ages on these movements with incremental adjustments to help develop skills in a progressive way.

We will also run a mock competition round to simulate the real event experience — specifically with respect to the timing and process of championship onsight events.

All ages are welcome! Please note that participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation.

Further details to come.

More options for serious youth climbers:

Private Sessions with Wills Young: There is nothing better than one-on-one coaching for rapid, targeted improvement. Sessions refine movement, instill good training habits, and address specific techniques. Tailored drills, if needed, will help with competition preparation. Younger or smaller competitors receive additional support through minor climb adjustments as needed to build skills. Consistent sessions lead to strong, measurable gains. $60/hr. Min: 2hrs.

Private Sets with Davis Stewart: Our Head Setter, Davis Stewart, offers custom coordination-movement sessions featuring dynamic vert and slab climbs set specifically to the athlete’s level and goals. Ideal for developing timing, precision, and movement confidence by incremental adjustment similar to a training camp. $75/hr. Min: 2hrs.

Remote coaching and video assessments are also available.
